MXL V69 MOGAMI EDITION
August 2003—The new MXL V69 Mogami Edition Tube Condenser Microphone ($379) from MXL features a 12AT7 tube and comes with a deluxe flight case, versatile shockmount, dedicated power supply, windscreeen and Mogami wiring throughout, both internally and in the 7-pin and XLR microphone cables. A 25mm diaphragm, 20 to 20k Hz bandwidth, vintage cosmetics, and 24-carat, gold-plated grille round out the V69.

MXL 603Spr
October 2002—The 603Spr Recording Package contains two 603S mics, which are matched and include shockmounts and a rugged flight case. The 603S condenser mics are best used as drum overheads and in guitar-miking applications. The 603S has a 20mm gold-deposited diaphragm with a 20-25k Hz frequency response. The polar pattern is subcardioid. The 603S is internally wired with world-renowned Mogami cable. The package has a MAP price of $249.

MXL 603
August 2002—The MXL 603 ($99) from Marshall Electronics is a new 20mm, 6-micron, gold-diaphragm condenser mic. Intended primarily for drum, ambient and orchestral miking applications, the supercardioid MXL 603 is internally wired with high-quality Mogami cable throughout and is externally finished in classic silver. Specs include a 20 to 25k Hz frequency range and 137dB maximum SPL, and its transformerless design provides a solid bottom and open top end. It's also offered bundled with Marshall's large-diaphragm MXL 2001-P as the $199 Recording Package.

MXL 1006BP
January 2002—AT AES NYC, MXL's 1006BP is an added twist to the market of inexpensive, cardioid, 1-inch-capsule condenser mics. A 9-volt battery compartment allows the 1006BP to be DC-operated for sampling or remote recording, or phantom-powered in the studio. Retail: $119.
